Is it illegal to hit your kid in california?

well basically, im a 14 year old female that kinda cussed out my parents ( freedom of speech) and my dad got really mad and started chasing me around the house while attempting to beat me and throw hard objects at me. Even my mom try to restrain him and he just harshly shoved her aside just to hit me. He then beat me with a cane and threw a textbook at me. Sorry its kind of long but would my father be charged with illegal ault?
