Post-Automobile America: Will it ever happen??

That would depend on the type of sacifices.I am not willing to give up my car so someone else can drive there's.I am not willing to live in a congested city,I have lived on or near a farm all my life and will not change that.M transit will not help those in the rural communities at all.Its not a question of giving up the auto.Its a question of alternative fuel and affordable prices for all not just the ones that can afford it.So far that hasn't been forthcoming.I may be forced however to find something else in way of heating as utilities have gone sky high and we should all be concerned over that.I don't think you will see too many in high rises doing without electricity but individual homes? Yes that is a real possibility. So what more sacifices can I do?No one should be blamed for their choice of lifestyle city or country,but that is what will happen.Already folks on here think country people should move to the city if things got bad,I still would not do it voluntarily
