What the doctor said is probably true it sounds like your bipolar. As for the whole Ritalin thing that's actually what it does to everyone that's why they give it to ADD and ADHD patients. The chemical structure is close to cocaine so you can expect the same effect from it. Meth also has a similar but more severe effect. The effect is that it releases dopamine which is your brains reward system which will in turn allow you to function better. As for if you should take it or not probably not some patients are subscribed Ritalin but using this with bipolar will increase or give you psychotic function. I would say take the drugs your doctor gives you and if they do not work simply bring them back and say that they aren't cutting it, If your doctor is well trained then he/she will do what will make you as comfortable as possible. Also research on the internet isn't as good as going to Harvard experience is what it takes to be a good doctor not looking up facts. Bipolar and ADHD are similar but not the same. Adderall also does the same effect and that is a lesser form of meth.
